I'VE swum under the stars in the tropics and splashed around in the Mediterranean, but I never thought I'd swim outdoors in Scotland. From The Himalayas To Highland Perthshire – A Well Deserved Celebration For Intrepid Trekkers
The Atholl Palace Hotel hosted a very special group of mountaineers at the weekend when ten visually impaired people, and their guides, from S Team Challenge came to enjoy a reunion celebratory Dinner and a free night’s bed and breakfast courtesy of the hotel management. Registered Charity S Team Challenge helps disadvantaged teenagers and adults experiencing a range of disabilities within the community and offers outdoor experiences such as camping, hill walking, guided mountaineering and climbing. Organised and supervised by mountaineering experts Trekking Encounters, S Team Challenge ‘s biggest adventure this year has been the trek in the Himalayas last month with the visually impaired group and their Guides. Said Group leader and Trekking Encounters Director Fraser Williams: “Saturday’s Dinner provided a chance to get together again socially and give everyone a big pat on the back. This group of visually impaired people, or VIP’s as they were called, did amazingly well in this challenge.”
