Innes' Diary

Zip Line

June 2014

In a slight break from gardening and wildlife comments this diary is about Maggie’s Cancer Centre in Dundee and how our team is aiming to raise lots of money to support their work. I have been riding a road bike for a couple of years now, in sportives, and most of the events ask for sponsorship. I decided to choose Maggie’s this year and inquired if the hotel and directors might sponsor me in a few runs. The response was fantastic. Not only would they sponsor me but they threw their full weight behind the project and Maggie’s is now the hotel’s main beneficiary for charitable fundraising.

Centre to the 2014 effort is a grand Open/Fun day/Garden Party in the Palace grounds on Sunday 3rd August. It will be a fantastic day with fun, food, drink and music to entertain you all day. And just when you think you can relax and wind down you will be asked to get your dancing shoes on and come along to what will be a fantastic evening’s music to Staxofmotown . Believe me they are brilliant so get your tickets booked early as we will have limited numbers available. We have still to finalise the day but it will start with the Vale of Atholl Pipe Band marching up the drive,a scary but fun zip slide will be running all day (pre-book your time slot to save missing out) a local farmers/producers market will be with us, a Medieval warriors encampment with big, wild men and all the swords and daggers they use will be set up in the forest. Bouncy castle, clowns, tennis fun, Escape route biking fun, putting competition, Scottish dance band, all day BBQ, strawberries, cream and pimms, local beers, a fantastic falconry exhibit and display  and much, much more. Entry is free but we will expect you to spend lots on the entertainment as every single penny we make will be going to Maggie’s Dundee Centre.

Please try to come along and join us and spread the word far and wide. The zip slide will be in great demand so to book your ride at a specific time (only £10) and not have to queue then contact Valerie below. Why not book a 15 mins slot with 10 of your friends and have some real fun. Same goes for the Staxofmotown gig. Tickets will be limited so to ensure you are there book tickets early.
