Cheryl and Ian

Cheryl and Ian came to stay at the Atholl Palace Hotel for a romantic break when Ian surprised Cheryl by booking their wedding here! Set on a winter wonderland they chose January. With all the recent snow they were fortunate to have just that! The bride and groom travelled from Liverpool for their special day, along with all of their guests, they all stayed for several nights making a real weekend of it.

Cheryl had her heart set on a silver themed wedding and all of the tables were draped in platinum organza along with the white chair covers and platinum organza chair ties. Each table centrepiece was a stunning silver candelabra adorned with red roses and finished with long silver candles – the candles were lit for the wedding meal and evening and provided a soft glow which dazzled from the crystals which were strewn across each table. Both Cheryl’s mother and mother in law were a fantastic help with both the table decorations and flowers. Special little touches were also on each table with the favours which included three chocolates with both Cheryl and Ian’s initials along with personalised love hearts – those old school sweets we all used to love and are one of Ian’s favourites. Each place card holder was either an ivory heart or dove and looked lovely on each table.

We cannot forget the cake which was truly spectacular – six tiers high with sparkling crystals both on the cake and on top with Cheryl & Ian’s initials. Each tier was made from Perspex columns also filled with large crystals. Finally large white silk feathers were used to fan out from the cake giving it the real ‘wow’ factor! This was opposite an eight tiered berry tower, over eight hundred strawberries dipped in chocolate and individually decorated – Guests were spoilt for choice on the day.

Ian and all of the ushers were dapper in their morning suits along with red cravats to tie in with the flowers and Cheryl looked absolutely stunning on the day in a gorgeous cream strapless dress – with her hair pinned up and a white veil she looked the dream bride. Cheryl also had six gorgeous bridesmaids all dressed in platinum silver dresses and again added the ‘wow’ factor to her day! The bride and groom chose to do a hand fasting during their ceremony adding a nice intimate touch and then went onto enjoy champagne and canapés whilst also fitting in some great photo opportunities with all their guests.

Everyone had a great day and the party continued well into the night, Liverpool band ‘The Detroits’ travelled all the way up and played Motown music until the early hours and then the party kept going for a little longer in the Stagshead Bar. All of the staff at the hotel thoroughly enjoyed the great banter of all the wedding guests and warmly welcome them again. Both Gillian and I would like to wish Cheryl and Ian many happy returns and we hope to see you both again in the not so distant future!
