Book your Room with a View…
The historic nature of the Atholl Palace Hotel means that every room is unique with quirky original features, however, the truly outstanding feature of all our luxury guestrooms are the views. From the superb south facing landscape of the Tummel Valley and views over the gardens of Ben-y-Vrackie, to the exquisite setting at garden level, with easy access to our Spa and gardens, we have a room to suit everyone.
From intimate single bedrooms to larger family suites, every bedroom is furnished to the highest standards with more than just the comforts of home. All the usual refinements of private bathrooms, telephone, tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryers and colour LED TV are provided.
Or stay in your own Private Lodge…
Around our Scottish estate, on a hill above Pitlochry, we have created a collection of luxury self catering cottages, lodges and apartments. In the seclusion of our former walled garden our modern lodges are holiday homes built to the highest standards and individually decorated giving each its own individual character. We have 3 holiday apartments in Highways, a unique building, which has been completely re-modelled within the listed Art Deco exterior.
The Bothy is tucked away in the secluded, walled garden and is the perfect romantic hideaway. Drive into your own secret garden, with parking, and walk through fragrant flowers to your front door. We also have some one-of-a-kind holiday cottages including the iconic Gate Lodge, which stylishly sits at the entrance to the Atholl Palace Hotel and estate. Our Garden Cottage is a charming wooden bungalow next to the former walled garden and this too we have furnished uniquely for our guests.
The Manor House at Atholl Palace
Set on a plateau at Corriebruach just south-west of the hotel, the Manor House was originally built in 1871 for the owners of the hotel. This former Victorian mansion has now been considerably upgraded to offer a relaxing, peaceful haven with up to ten rooms finished to a high standard within very easy walking distance from the main hotel, but also with separate vehicular access and parking. The secluded location benefits from plenty natural light whilst retaining a certain solitude, ideal for letting as a complete unit for up to 20 persons, or individually according to choice.
Gardens are good for the Soul…
Recreating the glorious gardens that were part of the original vision for the Atholl Palace has been a particularly important passion of ours at the hotel. Our gardeners’ hard work and imaginative planting has been rewarded with several prizes from the Pitlochry in Bloom Competition over the last few years. The gardens have been developed with walkways and seats to encourage all, both hotel guests and day visitors, to relax and enjoy the abundant wildlife and array of plants and colour.
The remarkable specimen trees, planted as the hotel was being built from 1874, have been described as “an undiscovered arboretum”, and are part of Perthshire’s Big Tree Country. The formal gardens, at the front of the Hotel, are a constant blaze of colour throughout the summer. They offer a unique setting for photographs, a quiet drink or romantic strolls.
Enjoying Seasonal Dining
One of the very nicest pleasures in life is the way we must regularly stop whatever it is we are doing and devote our attention to eating. At Atholl Palace this becomes an ultimate pleasure. Delight in a delicious breakfast feast with a view, and choose from lunch on the lawn, afternoon tea or drinks by the fireside or dinner in our restaurant. Our head chef prepares menus daily choosing seasonal food and herbs grown in our very own gardens and we are happy to prepare specialist dishes for any occasion, catering to all dietary requirements.

Relax in the Luxury of our Lavender Spa
Set in its unique location, the Atholl Palace offers the perfect retreat to escape from time itself, while you enjoy spectacular views of the Scottish countryside and the fresh Highland air. Drawing on its heritage as a Victorian health hydro, the Lavender Spa today still uses the powers of our natural spring water from the mountain of Ben-y-Vrackie. These waters are used as a tonic and are unique to the Atholl Palace.
Soak up nature itself….
The Lavender Spa combines hands on treatments and relaxation in our thermal rooms and spa pools. We offer an exclusive menu of luxury Phytomer performance treatments combining 100% natural organic marine extracts from oceanic plant life to create an innovative performance skincare for face and body. Our expert therapists will select a personalised experience for you from the number of treatments offered uniquely at our Spa, restoring a sense of balance and harmony to your mind and body.
You will long to return to our oasis of peace and tranquility and we look forward to welcoming you.
Go North, South, East & West, Climb a mountain, Discover a loch…
Of course you can enjoy your stay without ever leaving the grounds of Atholl Palace, spending time in our museum, having a game of snooker, or exploring the estate gardens. Our yearly tennis tournament attracts big numbers, while pitch and putt is a daily popular sport. You might also like to take a swim in our pool or relax with a treatment in our Spa, but the village of Pitlochry and surrounding area also has many delights to offer, which you really should explore while you are here.
Located in the centre of Scotland, at the start of the Highland Fault, Pitlochry is the ideal base for a truly Scottish experience. The Mountains of the Cairngorms National Park, the famous Lochs; Tummel and Rannoch, the historic sites of Dunkeld Cathedral and the Battle of Killiecrankie are all within 20 miles. Pitlochry has a diverse selection of restaurants, tea houses and shops and with the Festival Theatre and regular Scottish events, the area has plenty to entertain you.
Discover the history behind the Atholl Palace in our museum…
On June 7th, 1878, The Athole Hydropathic officially opened. Established initially as a centre for healing and restoration, the Atholl Palace was later transformed into a modern hotel. For over 130 years the hotel has welcomed guests and even housed two prestigious schools during the World Wars. An entertaining 15 minute film charts the story of the Atholl Palace celebrating those who built, worked and visited the hotel. It includes original footage made by the Leys School Film Society during their time at the hotel in the 1940s.
Rooms have been set up, with audio stories, in accordance with the original hotel plans, to show the working and guest life of the Victorian Hydropathic establishment. With first hand accounts and an array of photographs and artwork the museum brings to life its long and colourful history. Situated on the garden level, the museum welcomes visitors from 10am to 5pm daily.
