A Land of Lineage & Legacy
Highland Heritage
The Highlands have long been home to Scotland’s great clans — extended family communities with powerful identities, each with its own tartan, territory, and chief.
Traditions That Endure
These clans helped shape Scotland’s history, and their traditions remain alive across Perthshire today.
Stories in the Landscape
From ancient battlefields to ancestral estates, the surrounding countryside still tells the story of generations past.
The Atholl Clan: Guardians of the Highlands
Among the clans most closely connected to this region is Clan Murray, historically led by the Dukes of Atholl. From nearby Blair Castle, the Atholl family has played a defining role in Scotland’s story.
Their private regiment, the Atholl Highlanders, continues to march proudly at major ceremonial events — a living symbol of Highland heritage that remains unique in Scotland today.

Highland Experiences During Your Stay
Highland Night — Every Monday in Summer
Each summer, Pitlochry comes alive with The Highland Night, held every Monday evening from late May through early September.
Organised by the Vale of Atholl Pipe Band, this much-loved weekly celebration features pipe bands, Highland dancers, Scottish country dancing, singers, local musicians, and audience participation.
Visitors can follow the pipes and drums from Fishers Hotel to the Recreation Ground before enjoying a lively evening of traditional Scottish entertainment. If the weather turns, the event moves indoors to the town hall.
The Atholl Gathering at Blair Atholl
