Family Adventure

Pitlochry has several walks suitable for young children and parents with buggies. If you want to make your walk into an adventure why not do some Geocaching on the way?

Loch Dunmore was the original curling pond in Pitlochry and is now the setting for the annual Enchanted Forest event. This charming woodland has wide paths, easy for pushing buggies, bikes or wheelchairs.

The Pitlochry Boating Station sells bags of duck food so you can enjoy feeding the many ducks safely. Save some to bring back for the Atholl Palace ducks too!

The Hermitage in Dunkeld (approximately 13 miles south of Pitlochry) offers a lovely walk as it is sheltered by woodland most of the way, it is an ideal all-year route. You can be confident of enjoying a great day out no matter what the weather decides to do.  And again it is suitable for both prams and wheelchairs.

Pitlochry has two small playgrounds at the Recreation Ground and West Moulin Road.

About 5 miles north the Soldiers Leap visitors centre has a section for children.

The Beatrix Potter garden and museum in Birnam, Dunkeld with a trail of hidden sculptures and a small but charming museum where you can hang up Mrs. Tiggy Winkles washing and hide Peter Rabbit from Mr. MacGregor.

The Highland Safari centre near Aberfeldy offers Gold Panning - a surprisingly absorbing activity - and a small nature trail
